North Tract York Regional Forest

CUHK Alumni Association (Ontario) Hiking Group

The North Tract (York Regional Forest) is the venue for the first CUHKAAO hike of 2015. This 332 ha forest was first planted in 1925. The tract is located in the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville on the west side of Hwy 48, North of Vivian Road, and south of Davis Drive. The trails are generally well maintained. About 1 km of the trails is wheelchair accessible. The trails wind through a variety of areas, including mixed wood forest, red pine forest and hardwood forest. The trail is relatively flat with some gentle rolling hills. The trail surface is sandy with some muddy uneven sections because of the horse riding activities in the park. Please wear proper hiking boots with good traction.  Poison Ivy is common along trail edges. For your protection, please wear long pants. Insect repellents are also recommended. Please also note that there is no washroom facility in the park.
